Anyone over 18 years old working directly with children must be background checked per the policy set by the BCC Elders.
Students - If you need community service hour documentation, please just contact Melissa Cancro at melissa@bedfordcommunitychurch. Melissa is happy to fill out forms or send a letter to fulfill this requirement.
Event Help
Children's Discipleship has events throughout the year like VBS - 2nd week in August, Fall Fest (October 23rd - 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.), Parent's Night Out (November 12th - 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.), etc. Volunteers can help when available.
1) Decorating Team - Create decorations for events. Time Commitment: Low - Moderate - Fall Fest decorating might be 1-2 hours while VBS decorating is more involved.
2) Publicity Team - Hang up flyers, send postcards, and promote the event. Time Commitment: Low - 1-2 hours anytime before the event.
3) Event Helper - Work the event by leading kids through activities - Time Commitment: Moderate - Hours of Event plus arriving a 1/2 hour ahead of time to greet kids. (Some events like VBS require training beforehand. We aim to have our trainingcompleted in less than an hour.)
4) Clean up Team - Come at the end of the event and help with clean-up. Time Commitment: Low - 1-2 hours after the event.
Sunday Morning Help
Volunteers can pick their preferred service, age group, and frequency of service. Frequency can be once a month, 2x a month, etc. While we aim to have consistent faces in the classrooms so that kids feel comfortable, we understand that not everyone can commit to every week.
Our classes are:
Early Service: Nursery (Ages 0-2 1/2), Preschool (Ages 2-1/2-3), Preschool (Ages 4-5), and Grades 1-5
11:00 service: Nursery (Ages 0-2 1/2), Preschool (Ages 2-1/2-5), Grades 1-3, and Grades 4-5.
1) Check-In Helper - This person(s) would help parents check-in their students before the service. Check-In Helper is needed 15 minutes before service starts to 15 minutes after service starts -Time Commitment: Low - 30 minutes.
2) Teacher - Teachers receive their lessons during the week. All supplies are supplied and laid out for them. Teachers need to spend some time during the week to go over their lessons. Teachers need to be in their classroom 10 minutes before service starts to greet kids. Time Commitment: Moderate - Less than an hour during the week to review lessons and approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes on Sunday.
3) Helper - Helpers assist the teachers in their classroom by handing out papers, snacks, walking kids to the bathroom, etc. Each classroom needs two people to make safety requirements. Helpers need to be in their classroom 10 minutes before service starts to greet kids. Time commitment: Moderate - Approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes.
4) Nursery Attendants - Our attendants have an important job show our littlest ones that the church is a safe place. Our Nursery is filled with toys to play with. The Nursery needs two people to make safety requirements for each service. Nursery Attendants need to be in their classroom 10 minutes before the service starts to greet kids. Time commitment: Moderate - Approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes
5) Worship Team Volunteer - Due to COVID regulations, we are not having Worship right now. Once restrictions are lifted, worship will resume. It is important for the kids to worship. Our Worship Leader is Heather Zimmer. We need singers and people who play instruments for our Children's Discipleship Band.
Office Help
1) Lesson Helpers - These helpers will help Melissa prep the lesson materials. This can be done at church or at home. Time commitment: Low - 2 hours a month.
2) Prayer Team - Pray for the kids and families at BCC. Prayer meeting once a month via Zoom. Time Commitment: Less than 45 minutes.
